Applying the Patch by Downloading via Another Computer

  1. Download the patch_18Sep2k9.zip via another computer
  2. Extract the contents of patch_18Sep2k9.zip and copy them to SD card or USB storage
  3. Copy kernel_patch_18Sep2k9.tar and patch.sh to SD card or USB storage
  4. Plug-in the SD/USB storage into UbiSurfer Unit and copy them to root directory
  5. Follow the instructions below on How to Apply Patch via UbiSurfer but starting from step 8

 

How to Apply Patch via UbiSurfer

  1. Connect to wireless internet with Wifi Manager

 

  1. Launch Firefox (Iceweasel) from Programs->Internet->Firefox - WiFi

  1. From Firefox (Iceweasel) Go to UbiSurfer website and click on the Updates/Downloads link.  Then click on the September 18, 2009 Patch Update.  That will bring you to this current page.

  2. Right click then select 'Save Link As' on both patch.sh and kernel_patch_18Sep2k9.tar. In the 'Save in folder' select the root directory as shown below:

  1. After downloading the two files close Firefox and open My Documents

 

 

  1. Right click on 'patch.sh' and select 'open with...' then 'Open with another program'

  1. In the popup dialog, go to Command Line and type ' chmod 755 ' all small letters and with space between 'chmod' and '755' then press OK
    true

 

  1. Right click again on 'patch.sh' and select 'Execute'
    true

 

  1. Upon pressing on 'Execute' two consecutive new windows will popup showing the update process. Please wait until the system finishes updates and reboots automatically
    true

IMPORTANT: The device will shutdown after step 9 ‘tar’, restart, continue with ‘update.sh’  and then will reboot again to finish the process.
